To everyone and anyone who has attended or plans on attending an EnerGy competition….

As alot of you may have seen,we were on the infamous T.V. show “Dance Mom’s” last night.
I find it very interesting that the haters out there,the “boy-cotters” and the like,fail to realize one very important thing….the exposure these dancers are getting,not just the girls on the show,but every single dancer at the competition.
The Joffrey ballet representative was in attendance at our Highland event.
Joffrey…one of the biggest ,most renowned ballet company’s in the WORLD! Do you all realize how huge that is? For a dancer to be seen by a scout for the Joffrey? Do you know how many dancers dream of going to a school or a company like that?
To me,this say’s it all.In looking at the big picture….I know their are people who want to see this show go off the air,for reasons anywhere from “Abby being mean” to “pedophiles watching the show”.Ok…pedophiles watch anything from modeling shows to toddlers and tiara’s and even the Olympic gymnasts…(by the way that’s coming soon…should we boycott the Olympics) the truth is,that even though these sick people exist,you can’t go around trying to cancel shows because of it. And even though Abby is stern and maybe a bit over the top at times,( I myself don’t always agree with some of her tactics) she is without a doubt an outstanding educator.The proof, obviously lying within the dancers themselves.
I find it disturbing that people are going after a show citing “child abuse”,when there are far worse problems in the world.Why not try to help children who are truly abused because as a dance educator myself,I can say these kids are not. They are dancers who put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the art form,much like alot of dancers today.
When I was a young dancer,I spent every single day at my studio,even giving up school dances and outings with friends.And if I was doing a show,I was home schooled.That does not mean that I was abused.And the girls at Abby’s love it that much.
I don’t believe for a single second that if any of them decided they didn’t want to do this anymore,that their mothers would make them.These kids are incredibly gifted and are obviously on a path to becoming professionals in the dance world.
I have to say,I see nothing wrong with a t.v. show who is able to provide opportunities for all dancers.
In seeing last nights episode,it really made me stop and think of all the beautifully talented dancers that were in attendance that weekend in Highland,MI.,and to think they were being watched by someone from the Joffrey Ballet. HUGE!
This will be the only posting Energy will make.and I will not get involved in any debate.I feel as a dance educator,I’ve noticed in my own business, that we are getting input from parents that their little girls want to dance like Chloe and Maddie….how can that be negative?
There is alot of drama surrounding the show,but c’mon people,for dancers,its about the dancing,not the drama.
When my dancers talk about the show,they don’t talk about the moms,they talk about what the dancers did at the last competition,and then try to attempt the jump or the turn that they saw.
One more thing is certain also…if you find you don’t like the content of the show itself,you should have a little square devise with alot of buttons on it…one of them should turn it off or turn the channel.

Mia Diaz is in a video with the Dance Moms Miami dancers so maybe she will be on the show! She is a great dancer so hopefully she will be!
Abby Lee Miller will be at the Noretta Dunworth school of Dance 3311 Telegraph Road in Dearborn Michigan this Sunday at 5pm to meet and greet you!
Last weekend Dance Moms Miami was at Starbound in San Antonio Texas and the results are here.
This weekend Dance Moms Miami is filming at iHollywood in Tulsa, Oklahoma

One of the Dance Moms kids is rumored to be on My Kid Can Dance, which has not started filming yet but is produced by the same producers who created Dance Moms.
Last weekend Dance Moms was at NextStar Dance Competition. Next star released this statement.

NexStar would like to inform you that the television show “Dance Moms” will be present at the Upland, CA NexStar Regional Competition. They will be recording for the show during the competition on Saturday (late morning/early afternoon). This is the first experience between NexStar and ‘Dance Moms’. One of the deciding factors is that the production company has offered cash prize money of $500 per winning routine in the following categories:

Joffrey Ballet SCHOOL Scholarships

In this episode of Dance Moms the Girls went to a Joffrey Ballet School Audition. There is also a Joffrey Ballet Company, which some people are confusing with the school, there is no affiliation. This was not a normal audition for the ballet school. I have never been to a Joffrey Ballet School Audition but I have been to an American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive audition, and this is not what happens at a normal audition. A normal audition would be a a long ballet class with 30+ kids. No one would be wearing tan tights or Jazz shoes. I was also really confused why the girls were doing acro at a ballet summer intensive audition. Also, Even though it was not a “real” Joffrey Ballet School audition, those were Joffrey Ballet instructors. On the Abby Lee Dance Company website it said that Chloe Lukasiak won a half scholarship and Maddie Ziegler won a full scholarship to the All ages Mia Michaels Ballet intensive. This information has been removed from the website and sadly I cannot find the cached version that contains this info.

Dance Moms Season 2 Episode 11 and Dance Moms Miami

This weeks competition was Energy National Dance Competition in Highland, Michigan. Dance Moms was originally supposed to do another Energy National Dance Competition the very next week in Youngstown, OH, however Energy National Dance Convention decided that they would no longer allow Dance Moms to film at their competitions. Thus, next week’s competition is at Starbound instead. Chloe won 5th overall Junior solo at this competition for her solo “Rain Drops”, I am not sure if this is the same solo she performed on the show. Kimberly Kopke, who will be on Dance Moms Miami won 4th overall Junior solo at this same competition. Also, Dance Moms Miami won first overall group number beating the ALDC group dance Nip and Tuck. The Nip and Tuck routine was originally done in 2007 when the HBO show was at its peak. Dance Moms also changed the song to a Paris Hilton song called Reinvent Yourself.

Lifetime Entertainment decided to pull the episode “Topless Showgirls” from the air. This episode will never be shown on TV again, nor will it be available for purchase on iTunes.

Next week is the mid season finale of Dance Moms. Dance Moms will air for 90 minutes then Dance Moms Miami will follow for 60 minutes. Hello friends & Stars Family:

As you may already know Stars Dance Studio is doing a “reality” show on Lifetime. “Dance Moms Miami”

We can’t express how nervous and scared we are because of the show, since we don’t have control of the editing and the idea of making us look like monsters or not on national television is extremely nerve wraking. YES! we knew what we signed up for! However we are hoping the show will take the studio and dancers to a different stage Since we will be exposed as choreographers, teachers and dancers to a new set of viewers. We know where the competition world takes you and all its positive things that brings to a dancer. However this is a new road, unknown and dark, where we are creating our own light. Victor and I try our very best to make the studio shine in all circumstances, hoping that they will portray the love and passion we have towards dance and our kids. We also know that for a successful show you need drama! (that’s the scary part). Always remember its a SHOW! Everyone that really know Victor and I, know our values, morals, beliefs and what we stand for when it comes to competition. Even though we want to do well in competitions (like everyone else competing) that’s not our main objective as dance instructors. It is to build kids’ character and artistry, to LIBERATE THE ARTIST! Not to win 1st place (that’s all for the show).

We are expressing our feelings and beliefs to the people that matter to us before the show airs so you guys knows exactly how it is. Whether the show is a flop or a huge success , we only saw it as a new adventure and a new way of exposing our dancers on national TV. We are ready to pay the consequences for our actions in case we are portrayed as evil, mean, and cruel dance instructors. We are young and hot (jk) and we build this studio with lots of hard work, commitment, dedication and patience so starting over does not scare us! However we are hoping for the best. Being optimistic is one of my best qualities Always remember it’s a SHOW and even though i have a very inappropriate sense of humor it comes from a good place, i always want people to laugh at everything and anything. If i have to scream and pretend to be rude and cold to get my kids on TV its a sacrifice that i’m willing to do. However i will never ridicule or offend a kid; the moms not so much!

We are fully aware that our accomplishments are not simply attributed to epic leadership and a hard working staff, but to all of our parents and your amazing children. We grew and prospered because we have been lucky to have found great parents who trusted us with their children and gave us their loyalty and unconditional support. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to teach your children the art of dance, for putting up with the occasional errors and for just helping us put SDS on the map. The future looks bright and we want to acknowledge your contribution to our family.

We would like to thank our families and friends for their understanding, their support and for believing in us and helping us support our dreams. It has been a long road. To all the dance instructors from other studios that have guided us in our most difficult times. Your help was always appreciated, even when we were upset. We were young and stupid and made tons of mistakes that we now regret but back then we were fun and immature. I apologize if i ever offended you with my sense of humor since i’m fully aware its evil, inappropriate and rude. (In my past life i was Ursula) However we admire your work as well!

A special thanks to all of our dancers for their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication, you are truly our inspiration. You make us proud and we admire each and every one of you for your individuality and passion for the art of Dance! Regardless of your placements in competition.

To all the competitions thank you for allowing us a stage for us to perform every week and pushing us to our limits with your critiques and corrections. Thank you for the amazing memories and fun times because at the end we will never remember what we placed or how big our trophy was but how much fun we had! THANK YOU

Dance Moms Season 2 Episode 8

This episode of Dance Moms was set in Pittsburgh at Fire and Ice Talent Competition. This competition was a real competition, but it was put on by Lifetime Television. There were real judges that actually judged the numbers but it was not the official Fire and Ice Talent Competition’s regionals. Fire and Ice Talent competition does not allow the filming of Dance Moms at their official regional and national dance competitions. Fire and Ice just agreed to this competition because the person who runs it has been friends with Abby for 25 years. Last weekend the Dance Moms girls went to Jump dance competition in Pittsburgh and the results of that competition can be seen in the 2012 awards section of www.maddieziegler.com. This competition will not air on Dance Moms because Jump does not allow the filming of Dance Moms either. Some of the dances from Jump can be seen in the miscellaneous videos section of www.maddieziegler.com. This weeks competition Nia did an acro lyrical number named “I’ll do Anything for you”. Kendal did a jazz solo named “I think I like you”; Kendall competed with Candy Apples Dance Center in this episode. The ALDC group number named “Head over Heals” and Candy Apples did a group dance named “A Funeral”. ALDC won 1st overall for the group number and Kendall won 1st overall for solos. All of the other dances they showed performing were either from CADC or ALDC. At the awards ceremony it was just Candy Apples Dance Center and Abby Lee Dance Company dancers. So basically this competition was CADC vs ALDC. I feel so bad for Holly and Nia, I think Holly was so upset that this was not a real competition and they made Nia lose when Nia thought this was her opportunity to shine. I think that is what Holly is getting at in her interview, that is just my opinion though. I was actually really unhappy with this episode, faking results is one thing, a competition is another. what they did to Nia was not right, Holly has every reason to be upset. Nia is 10 years old, she may not fully understand that this is just a show. I really think Dance Moms could still get good ratings if they calmed down the drama a bit and were 100% truthful about the results. On a different note, Dance Moms Miami is set to air Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012. They have a lot of great little dancers, so get excited for that show! Dance Moms Season 2 Episode 7 and JUMP Dance Convention

In episode 7 the Dance Moms girls performed at Hollywood Vibe in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Maddie competed a Lyrical solo, “Every Little Step” in the Junior Division, Chloe competed a Lyrical solo, “Please” in the Intermediate Division, and the Dance Moms girls competed a Jazz small group in the Intermediate Division. The official Hollywood Vibe awards are posted here. The show made it appear that Chloe Lukasiak and Maddie Ziegler competed against eachother, which they did not. It also stated that Chloe Lukasiak received 2nd overall…no where in the official results is this stated. The official results just state who won 1st overall, therefore it is inconclusive as to whether she won 2nd place or not. Chloe did win 1st Overall for the Intermediate Lyrical solo Division. The group number won 1st Overall Intermediate Jazz Small Group as stated on Dance Moms. Maddie Ziegler also competed a duet with Brittany Pent called “Miracle Worker” which won 1st Overall in the Teen Duet/Trio Division. The pictures from “Miracle Worker” can be found on www.maddieziegler.com. ”Private Eyes” was a “Battle of the Stars Finalist”, not sure what that is but they get to go to Hollywood Vibe Nationals free because of this award. At this competition Payton Ackerman won a Hollywood Vibe Teen Scholarship. This weekend the Dance Moms girls will be performing at JUMP Dance Convention with Abby Lee Dance Company. This competition will not be filmed because JUMP will not allow Lifetime to film Dance Moms at their competition. Jump has a live webcast, where you can watch the competition. Dance Moms Miami the spin off of Dance Moms is starting in April the cast is Kimberly Kopke, Hannah Epstein, Sammy Small, Lucas Triana, and Jessica Kennedy. The links attached to those names are fan sites I have created that have no affiliation with anyone from Dance Moms Miami. There are already fake twitters posing on the dancers, the real twitters, facebooks, instagrams are posted on those websites. Get excited for Dance Moms Miami!! Looks like it is going to be a great show For everyone who is wondering, yes there will still be a Dance Moms with the girls in Pittsburgh. This is a separate show. Mia Diaz was also rumored to be on the show because it is at her studio, Stars Dance Center. She will not be a major dancer on the show though
